Product Problem Statement:

The current way our users manage their benefits and search for care focused primarily on interpersonal interaction over digital individual empowerment. SmartHealth will address this by providing a digital self-service platform for finding care, managing claims, and reviewing benefits so users can feel more confident and empowered in their healthcare experience.

What I Did

  • Performed E2E heuristic assessment to identify usability violations and accessibility needs.

  • Conducted team health and agile assessment to inform changes within team process.

  • Coached team in agile process and strategy, story writing, communication, and accessibility,

  • Mentored team in application of personas/research in strategy and daily decision-making

  • E2E design of “Search" (including profile pages): wireframes, lo-fi mocks, hi-fi mocks, prototypes.

  • Collaborated on design for pharmacy, benefits, and claims.

  • Mentored team in change management and leadership.

Deep Dive: Improving team experience

Team experience fuels user experience and it’s imperative to address issues of trust, collaborate on process, and implement feedback to improve process. When I joined the team, there was clear struggle to act on agreements and practice agile principles. I led the team in a progressive conversation where we:

  • Identified what wasn’t working for each team member

  • Assessed various agile approaches and team preferences

  • Collaborated on team working agreements

  • Created individual accountability via continuous feedback.

Final Solution

  • Improved team coordination as evidenced by increased velocity, fewer blockers.

  • Implemented WCAG 2.1 standards throughout the app while improving team insight and understanding.

  • Discovered effective integration with larger family system of applications.
